Housing services

Last updated: 29 Mar 2021

Homeless Law clients will often need to be referred to a housing service to obtain information, advice, referral and support.

Housing access points are the first point of contact for housing issues. Access points will generally require attendance in person for an assessment of the client’s housing situation. To find the nearest access point, phone the Melbourne Metro Housing Network on 1800 825 955 or refer to the Victorian housing access point list. The helpline operates 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

The extent to which an access point can assist will depend on a person’s financial situation, citizenship status and their specific vulnerabilities and circumstances.

See page four of the Guide to providing housing-focused support from Council to Homeless Persons’ for a diagram of the types of housing options available to people facing homelessness.
